LOMA VISTA NURSERY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Loma Vista Nursery is committed to giving back to the green industry. We believe that young people are the future of our business. By offering students an opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals, they will be able to apply their learned knowledge in this ever-changing commerce. Our internship program offers an opportunity to learn the nursery business through hands-on work experience. We are currently offering paid internships at our Ottawa location. Loma Vista Nursery is located in Franklin, Douglas and Johnson counties in Kansas.THE PROGRAM
Loma Vista’s internship program includes field-trips, shadowing opportunities, and hands on experience in production, propagation, planting, tree care and maintenance, distribution, shipping/receiving, canning, management and sales.
QUALIFICATIONS
All students at two or four-year universities are encouraged to apply. Preferred students are majoring in ornamental horticulture or related field and have completed sophomore year. A strong desire to learn from an industry leader, commitment to learning, motivation and strong communication skills are important qualities of all Loma Vista team members. Interns who excel will be invited back or offered full-time employment.
SPECIFICS
The program is available from March through August and is flexible to meet the needs of each individual. Although we feel at least 10 weeks are required for proper experience, shorter internships can be arranged. The work week is Monday through Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm with an opportunity for additional hours. Interns are responsible for providing their own housing and transportation.
